Mental Health Support in Milton Keynes and Online
No waiting list, and you choose who you see+In practice since 2013
Private mental health support, which mostly means the three parts of my work that are not tied to a room in Wolverton: online and telephone sessions wherever you are, supervision for other therapists, and support arranged through an employer.
If You Need Help Today, Start With the NHS
I am private practice, which means I am not free and I am not urgent care. Before paying anybody, it is worth knowing that NHS Talking Therapies is free and you can refer yourself without going through your GP, as long as you are registered with one and are 18 or over, or 16 in some areas.
What private practice offers instead is choice of practitioner, no waiting list, and sessions that run for as long as they are useful rather than for a set course. Those are real advantages. They are not the same as being better, and I would rather say so.
What Sits Under This
Online counselling. Sessions wherever you are. It is not a lesser version of sitting in a room, and for some people it is the version that gets them to start at all. The page covers what the research actually shows, what does not translate well to a screen, and how to set up so the hour is worth having.
Counselling supervision. For qualified therapists and for trainees. I hold an advanced specialist supervision diploma and I tutor counselling and hypnotherapy students at RQF levels 3 to 6.
Workplace and employer-arranged support. Counselling arranged through an employer, plus wellbeing and mental health workshops delivered to teams on site.
If You Are Looking for Something Specific
Most people arriving at a phrase like mental health support actually have something more particular in mind. If that is you, counselling and psychotherapy is the better starting point, and from there you can get straight to anxiety and panic, depression, stress and burnout, self-esteem and confidence, addiction, bereavement, anger management or counselling for men. Relationship difficulties are couples therapy, and work or direction is coaching rather than counselling.
You can also read what happens in a first session if what is putting you off is not knowing what you would be walking into.
